Traffic Equalizer... What Do You Think?

So far, none of my bloggies have turned into "discussions," so I'm posting a question about this on the FIB board.

Here is Mike Long's article that got me wondering how this works and how much it is frowned upon.

I'm anxious to see Mike's follow-up:  he has customized the templates so that his Traffic Equalizer now functions in a way he is comfortable with (he didn't like having thousands of pages without original content).  But in the meantime, I'd like to know the down'n'dirty about Traffic Equalizer as it comes out of the box (I've never seen sites like these, and I don't get it).
